 Three
women. three pregnncies--three fantastic actresses play
Bianca, Kendall, and Babe. Here SID sits down with Eden
Riegel, Alicia Minshew, and Alexa Havins to discuss their
thoughts about pregnancy for their characters and themselves!
What did
you think when you learned that Kendall was going to pretend
to be pregnant?
I loved it because I thought it would show
how far Kendall's willing to go for Bianca. She was willing
to put aside her skinny body and what people would think
about her, and carry this huge lie around.I also thought
that it was such an interesting thing for me to play, because
I've never worn a pregnancy pad. Wearing it has given me
an appreciation for pregnant women.
What do you think will happen once Erica
learns that Kendall and Bianca have been lying to her all
this time?
I think it's going to be a huge turning point and
will probably be tumultuous for awhile. Erica is going to
see that her daughters have been lying to her about something
that is the biggest thing that you could possibly lie about,
and I think that Erica is going to be really hurt. On the
flipside, who knows what she might feel toward Kendall?
I hope that Erica would be thankful in some ways for what
Kendall did for Bianca. But I think it's going to be a bumpy
road before things come full circle.
Tell us about your experience of getting
fitted for your fake pregnancy pad.
The first time we put something on, it didn't even
look like I was pregnant, so they really had to accentuate
the shape of it more. My body is very narrow, and I needed
something that bowed out a bit more. The first time I tried
it on, it just looked like I was a little thick around the
middle; it didn't really have the bump yet. But once we
put the right one on, I stared at myself for awhile in the
mirror and I was like, "So this is what I would look like
pregnant. Wow!"
Has playing a pregnant women made you think
about being a mother in your personal life?
When I'm wearing the pad, i touch it all the time.
Even when I'm not acting, I'll walk around the hallways
with it. It's wierd. I feel slight maternal instincts when
I'm in it. But when it's off... I'm just so far from having
kids, it's not even funny. That's not to say that I don't
want any, but it's just not on my list of things to do anytime
soon.
Why do you think Eden will be a good mother
someday?
Eden is so nuturing. There will be days wehn I'll
be in a terrible space, and even though she's several years
younger than I am, she's nurturing to me like a big sister. |

say that you never forget your first time, and that was definately
the case for Alicia Minshew when it came to her intitial 2002
on-screen love scene with Cameron Mathison. "Entertainment
Tonight was there to do a clip on us, and it was going to
be the first time I would be in my bra and panties on the
show," the actress recalls with a smile. "The ET camera was
on us while we were rehearsing and Cameron just made me laugh
the whole time. I was trying to be sexy and get into it, but
all I could do was laugh." Although Minshew tries to recall
for SID exactly what her costar said to make her giggle, she
is unable to do so. "I wish I could remember what he said,
but I probably couldn't repeat it if I did!". |
She
Refused to Give up a Dream |
Before
she landed her role as Kendall Hart, Alicia MInshew paid many
visits to the AMC audition room, with her sights set on other
roles. As such, she says the key part of making it is "deal
with rejection. I auditioned so many times for AMC casting
director Judy Wilson, you would thinkthat I would have just
said, 'Oh forget it.' But I'm telling you, persistence is
what got me here. And knowing that it's not you personally,
but you weren't right for the part. When you are, it will
click and it will happen. But you have to have persistence
and determination. That is why I'm playing Kendall today.
I worked really hard at my audition- and it worked."
