What's on the Menu for the Minshew's family at Christmastime?
"For two days we eat like pigs!"she laughs. |
 When
asked what her favorite holidiay is, Alicia Minshew enthusiastically
responds, "Christmas! It's got to be, hands down. Quite
honestly, it used to be about getting the presents when
I was little. But now it's all about my family and
the food," she says with a smile. Besides feasting on such
Italian staples as seafood and pasta on Christmas Eve, and
then even more food the next day, Minshew says that being
with her relatives is the best part of the holiday.. "We
have a huge family, and I enjoy partying with them
more than anybody. They love to party," she shares, then
adds with a laugh, "We're just a bunch of energetic Italians!"

When Kendall first sees Ryan |
~First,
a confession: we have no idea what Kendall is up to. Did
she really marry Michael? We're not quite sure. Did she
kill him? We doubt it. Is she protecting someone? We think
so. But make no mistake: Our inability to crack the Kendall
code hasn't dampened our enthusiasm for the masterful way
that Alicia Minshew is executing it. Yes, the actress
shines when Kendall is playing tough.(She was a particular
hoot when Kendall tore into the police station in a skintight
mourner's uniform to announce a hefty reward for the arrest
of her husband's killer). But Minshew is at her peak
when she allows Kendall's tender side to poke through. She
nailed the quiet moment when Kendall asked Aidan to expl
ain why he's still in her corner-- genuinely curious as
to why he's sticking by her side, greatly moved by his loyalty
and utterly panicked that his determination to clear her
name will derail her whole plan...whatever it is. But better
yet was the look on Kendall's face when she caught her first
glimpse of Ryan. Though his sudden return was a curve ball,
surprise was the least of what registered in her eyes: we
saw hurt, heartache, helplessness, and even a bit of fear.
with htat one little look, the Kendall/Ryan relationship
was infused with a depth and an urgency it lacked in its
first incarnation. So, while we may not know exactly what
game Kendall is playing, we're quite certain of this: Alicia
Minshew is at the top of hers. |

Just
how does Alicia memorize all those lines? Here's her secret...
Soap opera actors must learn a thick, new script almost
everyday, so it should come as no surprise that most develop
a system for memorizing thier lines. Alicia Minshew, however,
already had a head start. "Since I was little, I've always
been really good at memorizing things," the actress explains.
"After I read a script so many times, I'll put it down and
come back to it later, and I'll surprise myself that I actually
memorized it." Since she's been on AMC for almost two years,
Minshew notices that she keeps on getting better at remembering,
but admits that she was nervous that first week. "I had
six shows in a row to do and was given a stack of scripts.
I remember thinking, 'how am I going to do this?' But I
crammed late at night, having to get up for work in a few
hours. That was probably my hardest week," she recalls with
a smile, "but I'm used to it now."
