[Are Greenlee's "New" Flashbacks Too Much?]
In
the wonderful world of soaps we get attached to characters, stories
and most of all the actors who play them. It's almost like we secretly
hope the actors can't be so easily replaced, but in the real world,
they are. When Greenlee came back in town, she had blonder hair. She
was taller and she didn't really look anything like the Greenlee we
once knew and loved.
But with time, we may be able to accept the changes bestowed upon us except for one major thing. Flashbacks. That's right readers, the writers have made us sit through a number of flashbacks all reworked and reshot to fit the new Greenlee. But we know better. We know what Greenlee looked like when she found out what Kendall did to her. We know what the original Fusion 4 did when they cooked up their first lipstick in Kendall's kitchen. No matter how hard the writers want us to know that the "new" Greenlee is Greenlee, I can't help but see in the back of my mind, all the work and setup that Rebecca Budig did to create Greenlee so easily replaced.
A character may be easy to changewith a new look and new actor, but the memories just aren't. I don't buy the new flashbacks at all. I remember what did happen on our screens with the old Greenlee, and no amount of "new" footage or new actress will change those memories.
